Het stationsgebied wordt opgewaardeerd tot een knooppunt van vervoer. Optimale bereikbaarheid, een goede ruimtelijke verbinding met de binnenstad en het versterken van de vestigingsmogelijkheden in de nabije omgeving zijn belangrijke doelstellingen.

Het stationsgebied van Deventer is uniek in Nederland. De ligging van het station en spoor in een 19e eeuws park ter plekke van de voormalige vestingwerken maken het tot een bijzonder gebied. Het park, de Singel, de Buitengracht en de groene spoortaluds vormen samen een prachtig ensemble met een landschappelijke uitstraling.

Bij het ontwikkelen van twee modellen voor de stationsomgeving is er op ingezet het station -net zoals vroeger- weer volwaardig onderdeel te maken van dit ensemble. Een heldere oriëntatie en organisatie van de logistiek en de openbare ruimte zorgen ervoor dat het station en de binnenstad optimaal bereikbaar zijn.

The Deventer railway station area is being upgraded to meet the requirements of a transport hub. Key objectives include: optimum accessibility, a good spatial connection with the city centre and the enhancement of business establishment opportunities in the vicinity.

The area is one of a kind in the Netherlands due to the location of the station building and the tracks in a 19^th century park on the site of the former fortifications. The park, the Singel, the Buitengracht and the green side slopes constitute a splendid ensemble of scenic beauty.

Reinstating the station as a fully-fledged part of this ensemble – just like in the past – was of central importance when developing two models for the station’s surroundings. A well-defined orientation and a clear organisation of the logistics and the public space will ensure optimum access to the station and the city centre.
